The 64th National Pharmacist Week 2025 was inaugurated with dignity and excellent organization at Keshrichand Subharti Institute of Pharmacy, operating under Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University. This year’s theme, “Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination,” emphasizes vaccination, public health, and scientific awareness.
The program was coordinated by the institute’s academic team in the esteemed presence of Prof. Dr. Himanshu Airen, Vice-Chancellor of the University; Maj. Gen. Dr. G.K. Thapliyall, Director General of the Trust; Dr. Lokesh Tyagi, Principal; and Mrs. Richa Pundeer, Head of Department.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Himanshu Airen, while sharing his views, highlighted the scientific and humanitarian importance of vaccination. He stated that vaccination is one of the greatest achievements of human civilization. When a pharmacist administers a vaccine, he or she lays the foundation for a safer future. He added that the objective of pharmacy education is not limited to dispensing medicines, but also to strengthening trust, awareness, and scientific thinking in society.
He further emphasized: “Higher education institutions are considered excellent only when they do more than awarding degrees — when they prepare responsible, sensitive, and scientifically empowered citizens. I am pleased that Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University is consistently progressing in this direction.”
Maj. Gen. Dr. Thapliyall, in his address, spoke about the crucial role of pharmacists. He stated that pharmacists are not confined to dispensing medicines, but are an essential link in the healthcare system. Pharmacists play a key role in keeping society healthy. Vaccination is not merely a medical process — it is a protective shield for life, and pharmacists are its dedicated guardians.
Principal Dr. Lokesh Tyagi, while addressing the students, underlined the importance of scientific temperament and evidence-based medical practice. He stated that vaccination is not only a tool for disease prevention but also the foundation of a healthy nation. He reminded the students that they are the future scientists and policymakers, and must therefore develop both knowledge and a sense of social responsibility.
Throughout the day, various activities were organized that enhanced enthusiasm, curiosity, and scientific temperament among students. These included:
* Vaccine Awareness Poster Competition
* Scientific Quiz
* Comparative Vaccine Technology Debate
* Research Presentation
The objective of these events was to promote awareness about vaccine science, public health, and emerging technologies.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Khalid Hasan, Registrar; Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Controller of Examinations; and other faculty members, who actively contributed to the success of the event.
The inauguration of National Pharmacist Week 2025 stands as a testament to the institute’s commitment to pharmacy education, scientific awareness, and public health. Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University has once again demonstrated that it is not merely an academic institution but also a significant center for fostering positive change in society.
