Sheel Shukla, Director of LGSB Subharti College of Journalism and Mass Communication under Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, and Editor-in-Chief of Wisdom India daily newspaper and news channel, began his address by explaining the distinction between traditional and new media. He emphasized that today’s new media is accessible, independent, and democratic. With the widespread use of mobile phones, every individual has effectively become a “media house,” making information dissemination faster and more far-reaching.

He further noted that new media operates largely free from corporate and political control, which enhances both its independence and influence. This transformation has significantly contributed to spreading education and awareness to remote areas of the country.

However, he also underlined the major challenge facing new media—credibility. He urged journalists and content creators to carefully consider the social and national impact of any post or video before sharing it. He stressed that freedom of expression must be accompanied by a strong sense of responsibility.

Sheel Shukla was warmly welcomed at the beginning of the session, and his insightful address was appreciated with a vote of thanks at the conclusion. His speech provided both direction and inspiration for the media fraternity.
