“Diksharambh 2026” Student Orientation Program Inaugurated at Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University

Newly admitted students introduced to academic excellence, values, national consciousness and global perspective

Dehradun, August 18, 2026: Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, Dehradun, today inaugurated “Diksharambh 2026 – Student Orientation Program” at the Lalitaditya Auditorium, with the objective of ensuring a smooth, positive and inspiring entry of newly admitted students into university life. The three-day program is being held from August 18 to 20, 2026.

The aim of the program is to familiarize newly admitted students with the university’s academic environment, vision and values, discipline, rules and regulations, academic and co-curricular activities, student facilities, and various student support services. On the first day of the program, newly admitted students of the Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Education participated with great enthusiasm.

Addressing the students, the Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, welcomed them to the university family. In his inspiring address, he said that admission to the university marks the beginning of a significant new journey in the lives of students. He urged students to make discipline, values, moral principles, hard work and social responsibility an integral part of their lives along with education.

He called upon students to make maximum use of the academic and co-curricular opportunities available at the university and to work towards the holistic development of their talent and personality. He emphasized that a student’s success is not limited to securing good grades, but also lies in developing oneself as a responsible, sensitive and committed citizen dedicated to national interest.

Prof. Manmohan Gupta, Dean Academics and Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell, informed the newly admitted students about the university’s academic structure, quality-based education, academic discipline and excellence in higher education.

He highlighted the importance of regular study, time management, interaction with faculty, and active participation in the university’s academic activities. He stated that the objective of higher education is not merely to obtain a degree, but also to develop knowledge, logical thinking, research aptitude, innovation and problem-solving abilities among students.

He encouraged students to make optimum use of the academic resources and opportunities available at the university and to continuously upgrade themselves in line with evolving technological and global requirements.

Mr. Raman Krishna Kimothi, Member, Department of Culture and Assistant Director, International Students and Global Relations, introduced students to Subharti’s core philosophy of “Rashtra Bodh se Rashtra Bhakti” [National Consciousness to National Devotion].

In his address, he urged students to understand their responsibilities towards the nation, society and humanity, and to link education not only with knowledge acquisition but also with character building, social responsibility and service to the nation. He stated that the true success of a student lies not only in knowledge and personal achievements, but also in developing as a responsible, sensitive and committed citizen.

He also motivated students to prepare themselves for the changing global landscape and to develop a global outlook, communication skills, cultural understanding, self-confidence and leadership qualities.

A special session on “Rashtra Bodh” [National Consciousness] was organized, through which students were connected with Indian culture, national unity, patriotism and the sense of duty towards the nation. Students were reminded that the purpose of education is not only personal advancement, but also to develop the capacity to fulfill responsibilities towards society and the nation.

Keeping the spirit of “Rashtra Bodh se Rashtra Bhakti” at the center, students were encouraged to remain aware of our glorious history, Indian culture and national values, and to contribute positively to nation-building through their actions.

Prof. Neelima Chauhan, Dean, briefed students about the university’s structure, various academic and co-curricular activities, facilities, and opportunities available to students.

The Faculty of Education provided information regarding the university’s rules and regulations, discipline and institutional systems. The Chief Proctor addressed students on anti-ragging awareness and encouraged them to maintain a safe, respectful and positive academic environment.

Mr. Pradeep Mahara, Coordinator, National Service Scheme (NSS), familiarized students with NSS activities and various opportunities for social service, and delivered the message of responsibility and service towards society.

Mrs. Poonam Kaushik, Controller of Examinations, provided information on the university’s examination system, evaluation process, examination rules and important guidelines. She urged students to adhere to examination rules and maintain academic discipline.

The program was compered by Ms. Kavita Nainwal, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Ms. Anjali Upadhyay, Faculty of Fine Arts and Fashion Design, who ensured the smooth, disciplined and effective conduct of various activities.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the Dean, Student Welfare, who urged students to make the best use of the opportunities available at the university and to pursue their academic journey with discipline, values and excellence.

Present on the occasion were Registrar Mr. Khalid Hasan, Prof. Nitika Kaushal, Deans of various faculties, Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, staff and newly admitted students.

The first day of “Diksharambh 2026” paved the way for a positive and inspiring start to the new academic life of newly admitted students at the university. The program conveyed that the university is not merely a place to obtain a degree, but a vital center for developing knowledge, values, discipline, national consciousness, personality and a global perspective.

Orientation programs for newly admitted students of other faculties and departments will also be organized during the remaining days of the three-day “Diksharambh 2026” program.
