CBSE Cautions Against Fake Social Media : In today’s digital age, social media has become an integral part of our lives. It has revolutionized the way we communicate, connect, and share information. However, with the increasing popularity of social media platforms, there has also been a rise in the number of fake accounts and profiles. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently issued a cautionary statement regarding the presence of fake social media handles in relation to the upcoming board exams.
The CBSE, which is the national educational board in India responsible for conducting the board exams for class 10 and 12 students, has urged students, parents, and teachers to be vigilant and aware of the potential risks associated with fake social media accounts. The board has emphasized the importance of verifying the authenticity of the accounts before engaging with them.
One of the main concerns highlighted by the CBSE is the spread of misinformation and rumors through these fake accounts. Misleading information can create panic and confusion among students, leading to unnecessary stress and anxiety. It is crucial for students to rely on accurate and reliable sources of information, such as official announcements and notifications from the CBSE.
The CBSE has also warned against the misuse of personal information by these fake accounts. Cybercriminals may use fake profiles to gather personal details of students, which can then be exploited for various illegal activities. Students are advised to be cautious while sharing any personal information online and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

To tackle the issue of fake social media handles, the CBSE has requested students, parents, and teachers to report any fake accounts or profiles to the respective social media platforms. By reporting these accounts, the platforms can take necessary action to remove them and prevent further misuse.
In addition to the cautionary statement, the CBSE has also provided guidelines on how to identify fake social media accounts. Some of the key indicators include suspicious usernames, lack of official verification badges, poor grammar and spelling in posts, and inconsistent information. Students are advised to be vigilant and to verify the authenticity of the accounts through official sources before engaging with them.
