Santosh Kumar Honoured with the Highest Award of the State Lalit Kala Akademi Artistic Pursuit of Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University Earns National Recognition

At the 65th Foundation Day समारोह organized by the Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi under the Department of Culture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, senior artist and faculty member Santosh Kumar of Subharti Fine Arts College was conferred with the Akademi’s highest honour.
The award was presented in recognition of his long-standing creative contribution to painting, his distinctive artistic vision, and his significant role in art education.

The ceremony, held at the Akademi campus in Lucknow, witnessed the presence of eminent personalities from the art fraternity across the state. As part of the honour, Santosh Kumar was presented with a citation, a memento, and a cash award.
While presenting the award, Akademi President Dr. Sunil Vishwakarma remarked that Santosh Kumar’s art has given a new direction to contemporary Indian painting and that his creative excellence sets a benchmark for young artists.

Congratulating him on this achievement, Dr. Atul Krishna, Chairman of Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University Trust, described the honour as a moment of pride for the entire Subharti family. He stated,
“Santosh Kumar’s discipline and dedication strengthen the creative heritage of the university. His journey proves that sustained practice and a sensitive artistic vision can guide society through art.”

University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Himanshu Aeran said that this recognition stands as strong evidence of Subharti University’s growing identity in the fields of art and culture.
“This honour will inspire our students to strive for excellence at global standards and will infuse new energy into academic–creative synergy,” he added.

Assistant Academic Director Ms. Avni Kamal also extended her congratulations, noting that under Santosh Kumar’s mentorship, Fine Arts students have been consistently delivering outstanding performances on national platforms. According to her, the award underscores the institution’s commitment to both teaching and creative excellence.

Speaking to the media during the programme, Santosh Kumar described the honour as not merely a personal achievement but a dedication to Subharti Fine Arts College and his students. He encouraged young artists to move forward with continuous practice and a sensitive, reflective approach.

On this occasion, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Desh Deepak, in a message, stated,
“This honour is a source of inspiration for both our teachers and students. The university will continue to extend every possible support to artistic pursuit.”

Notably, this highest honour conferred by the Uttar Pradesh State Lalit Kala Akademi is not only a recognition of Santosh Kumar’s creative journey but also a strong affirmation of the national acceptance and cultural leadership of Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University in art education.
