Grand Inauguration of Two-Day “kala Mela” at Subharti School of Fine Arts and Fashion Design

Students’ creativity and confidence shine on a vibrant two-day art celebration
Dehradun, October 14, 2025.
A two-day “kala Mela” was inaugurated today at Dr. Mukti Bhatnagar Subharti School of Fine Arts and Fashion Design, Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, Dehradun. On this occasion, renowned social worker from Dehradun Mrs. Jyoti Srivastava graced the event as the Chief Guest.


The program was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Himanshu Aeran and Mrs. Jyoti Johar, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp. On this occasion, Dr. Rita Tewari Dean, Mr. Santosh Kumar Head, Fine Arts Department, and other faculty members warmly welcomed the guests by presenting bouquets and ceremonial scarves.
During the event, Vice Chancellor Dr. Himanshu Airan said,
“Art is not merely a medium of expression but the voice of the soul. Subharti University is always committed to providing students with a platform where they can freely express their talent. Such events instill energy, confidence, and creativity among students.”
He further added that Subharti University continuously strives not only for academic excellence but also for cultural and artistic enrichment.
Chief Guest Mrs. Jyoti Srivastava said,


“Art is the identity of our society and culture. Such events not only give students an opportunity to showcase their creative abilities but also inspire them to connect with Indian traditions and heritage.”
She appreciated the artworks created by the students and remarked that young artists possess immense potential that needs to be guided in the right direction.
Mr. Santosh Kumar, Head of the Fine Arts Department, informed that the two-day “kala Mela” will be held on October 14 and 15, 2025.
They stated,


“The objective of this event is to provide students with a platform to showcase their artistic skills. Through active participation, this fair has truly become a vibrant learning laboratory.”
The program was graced by the presence of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Mrs. Avni Kamal, Dr. Lokesh Tyagi, Dr. P.K. Sharma, Dr. Ravindra Pratap Singh Yadav, all Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, and a large number of students.
On the first day, students presented impressive exhibitions of painting, clay art, textile designing, and fashion sketching, which received much appreciation from the visitors. On the second day, a fashion show, live art performances, and an award distribution ceremony will be organized.
