NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Counselling: Schedule, Registration Link and Step-by-Step Application Guide

Posted on October 13, 2026 By Ankita Singh No Comments on NEET PG 2026 Round 1 Counselling: Schedule, Registration Link and Step-by-Step Application Guide

Round 1 registration for NEET PG 2026 counselling marks the formal beginning of the postgraduate medical admission process. Through this stage, eligible candidates can seek admission to MD, MS, PG Diploma and other approved postgraduate medical programmes offered through the counselling system. Completing registration correctly is essential because candidates who do not register within the prescribed period may not be considered for seat allocation in the first round.

The counselling process may include seats under the All India Quota, participating central universities, deemed universities and other categories administered by the designated authority. However, the scope of a particular counselling portal can vary. State quota seats, state government institutions and many private medical colleges may be handled through separate state-level counselling authorities, which can publish different registration windows, eligibility rules, fee structures and reporting instructions. Candidates should therefore identify the authority responsible for each category of seat they wish to pursue.

Registration dates, application fees, eligibility requirements, participating institutions and seat categories should be confirmed only through the latest official notices and the authorised counselling website. Information shared through unofficial posts, outdated notices or third-party summaries may not reflect amendments issued by the competent authority. Before submitting an application, candidates should verify their NEET PG result details, personal information, academic records, category documents and other required certificates.

Registration is only the first step in Round 1. After creating an account and submitting the application, candidates generally need to fill in their preferred colleges and courses in the choice-filling stage. They must then lock those preferences before the deadline; saved choices may not be treated as final if locking is not completed. The authority uses the submitted preferences, merit position, reservation rules and seat availability to conduct seat allotment. Candidates who receive a seat must follow the instructions for accepting or upgrading it, paying any required fee, downloading the allotment document and reporting to the assigned institution for admission verification. Understanding these stages in advance can help aspirants avoid missed deadlines and make informed choices during the counselling process.

The Round 1 counselling schedule for NEET PG 2026 should be checked against the latest notice issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The official timeline will specify the registration opening date, the final date for submitting the application, the fee-payment deadline, and the window for entering course and college preferences.

Candidates should also note the separate period for choice locking. Choices may be edited during the choice-filling window, but they generally become final once locked or when the stated deadline expires. MCC then processes registrations and preferences before publishing the Round 1 seat-allotment result. The schedule will also state the reporting or joining deadline for candidates allotted a seat.

Because counselling dates can be revised, candidates should verify each deadline on mcc.nic.in immediately before taking action. Read the current NEET PG counselling notice carefully, including instructions about eligibility, documents, fees, choice submission, seat acceptance, and reporting. A missed payment, choice-locking, or joining deadline can affect participation in the next stage.

The genuine registration portal should be reached by typing mcc.nic.in into the browser or by following a link published directly on the MCC website. Candidates should be cautious of unofficial websites, advertisements, social-media posts, messages, and third-party links that imitate the counselling portal or request payment and personal information. Check the domain name, security connection, and official notice before entering any details.

A simplified Round 1 timeline will include these stages: registration and application submission, fee payment, choice filling, choice locking, processing and seat allotment, and joining the allotted institution. The exact dates for all stages remain subject to the official 2026 notification and should not be assumed from previous years.

Applicants seeking state quota seats must follow the relevant state medical education department or counselling authority as well. State authorities may publish different registration links, schedules, eligibility rules, and reporting deadlines. Registration with MCC does not necessarily complete the separate process required for state counselling.

Begin by visiting the official counselling portal identified in the NEET PG 2026 Round 1 counselling notice. Select the registration link for NEET PG 2026 counselling and confirm that the website address is genuine before entering any information. Create an account using the details associated with your examination application, including the NEET PG application number or roll number, date of birth, an active mobile number and a regularly monitored email address. The contact details should remain accessible throughout the counselling process because authorities may send verification messages, alerts and important deadlines through these channels.

Complete the application form sequentially and enter personal, academic, internship, medical registration and category information exactly as it appears on the relevant official documents. Upload the required files in the prescribed format, size and resolution. Candidates should keep their NEET PG scorecard or result details, identity proof, MBBS degree or qualification records, marksheets, internship completion certificate, medical council registration certificate and recent photograph or signature ready. Applicants claiming reservation, disability or other applicable benefits must also provide valid category, disability or supporting certificates listed in the official notice. Additional documents may be required for specific institutions, states or candidate groups.

Before proceeding to payment, check every field and uploaded document carefully. Pay the registration fee online through the available payment gateway and wait for the transaction response. Do not refresh the page or submit another payment while a transaction is processing. Save the registration number, application credentials and payment reference immediately. If money is deducted but the application status does not change, retain the transaction proof and contact the official helpdesk promptly rather than creating a duplicate registration.

Use the preview page to verify spelling, date of birth, examination details, internship dates, registration information, category selection and certificate data. Correct errors before final submission, since changes may not be permitted later. Submit the completed form only after confirming the declaration and download the confirmation page. Print or securely store the confirmation page, fee receipt and uploaded-document record for future verification. Avoid duplicate registrations and regularly check the official portal, registered email and mobile number for updates.

After completing registration, candidates must participate actively in the choice-filling process to remain eligible for NEET PG 2026 Round 1 allotment. The available course and college matrix should be reviewed carefully on the official counselling portal, including specialty, category, seat type, location, tuition fees, hostel charges, service obligations, and bond conditions. Comparing these details can help candidates understand the practical and financial implications of each option.

NEET PG Choices should be arranged in a genuine order of preference, based on career objectives, academic interests, budget, location, and willingness to join. Selecting institutions randomly may result in an allotment that does not match the candidate’s priorities. After entering preferences, candidates should verify the sequence, save the choices, and lock them before the stated deadline. Unsubmitted, saved but unlocked, or improperly recorded preferences may not be considered under the applicable counselling rules. A confirmation page or acknowledgment should be downloaded for future reference.

Round 1 results may show that no seat has been allotted, or that a seat has been assigned. Where a seat is allotted, the candidate may be required to accept it and report to the college, while the current policy may also permit participation in a later round for upgradation. The available options, such as free exit, willingness to upgrade, or retention of the allotted seat, can vary; candidates should read the latest official notification before selecting one.

After allotment, download the allotment letter and(NEET PG ) report to the assigned college within the specified dates. Complete document verification, pay the required fees, submit original documents where instructed, and undergo any prescribed medical examination. Keep receipts and copies of every submission. Before the deadline, check official notifications, track reporting dates, keep certificates ready, understand resignation and upgrade rules, and confirm the consequences of failing to join an allotted seat. Missing a reporting requirement can lead to cancellation, forfeiture of fees, or restrictions in subsequent rounds.
