The University of Delhi has formally notified the continuation of Professor Yogesh Singh as its Vice-Chancellor for a second term. The notification, issued on October 8, 2026, confirms that Prof. Singh will continue as DU Vice-Chancellor for another five years.

Prof. Yogesh Singh assumed charge as the 23rd Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi on October 8, 2021. His second term begins from October 8, 2026. He is the first Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University to be reappointed for a consecutive second term under the amended university statutes.

DU VC Yogesh Singh Second Term: Key Details

The continuation of Prof. Yogesh Singh comes after the amendment to the Delhi University statutes that made the Vice-Chancellor eligible for reappointment for another five-year term. The change was introduced in 2023, paving the way for the incumbent Vice-Chancellor to be considered for a second consecutive tenure.

Yogesh Singh Reappointed as Delhi University Vice-Chancellor

Prof. Yogesh Singh has extensive experience in higher education administration. Before joining Delhi University, he held senior academic and administrative positions, including serving as Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and Delhi Technological University. He also served in leadership roles at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and its engineering and information technology schools.

During his first term at DU, the university continued with several major academic and administrative changes, including the implementation of the four-year undergraduate programme under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the continued use of CUET-based admissions.
