Blood Donation in the Name of Martyrs” Drive at Subharti University Reflects Youth Commitment to Humanity

Over 110 students registered, 40 units of blood collected; message of “Nation Building through Human Service” resonates

Dehradun:

A grand blood donation camp titled “Blood Donation in the Name of Martyrs” was organized at Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, Dehradun, under the Rashtra Bodh Programme. The camp was conducted jointly by the Department of Culture and the Faculty of Arts, in collaboration with Lal Bahadur Shastri Lokpriya Hospital.

The programme was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Major General Dr. G.K. Thapliyal, Director General, MTV Buddhist Religious and Charitable Trust; Prof. Dr. Deshdeepak, Vice Chancellor of the University; and Prof. Dr. Jeevan Asha, Director of Lokpriya Hospital.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance, social relevance, and health benefits of blood donation. Major General Dr. G.K. Thapliyal, in his inspiring address, encouraged students to engage in selfless service towards humanity. He emphasized that blood donation is not only a life-saving act but also a reflection of one’s responsibility towards society.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deshdeepak, in his message, referred to the vision of Dr. Atul Krishna, Founder of the Subharti Group, Chairman of MTV Buddhist Religious and Charitable Trust, and President of the University—“Character building through human service and nation building through character.” He described the blood donation camp as a significant step in nurturing a spirit of service and patriotism among the youth.

Prof. Dr. Jeevan Asha, Director of Lokpriya Hospital, elaborated on the scientific and health-related benefits of blood donation while dispelling common myths associated with it. She explained that regular blood donation is safe and beneficial for the body.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students. More than 110 students registered for blood donation, out of which over 40 units of blood were successfully collected. Concluding the programme, Raman Krishna Kimothi, member of the Department of Culture, expressed gratitude to the participants and informed that, in line with the vision of Dr. Atul Krishna, the collected blood would be made available at minimal cost to soldiers and dependents of martyrs’ families.

Representing the Blood Bank of Dr. K.K.B.M. Subharti Hospital, Assistant Registrar Mr. Vikendra Singh Kathait extended thanks to the Kotra Campus team of the University for successfully organizing the camp. The programme concluded with the collective rendition of the “Azad Hind Song,” in keeping with the tradition of the Rashtra Bodh Programme.

On this occasion, Special Officer Balwant Bora, Secretary of the Department of Culture Vinay Semwal, Dean Academics Prof. Manmohan Gupta, Dean Arts and Social Sciences Dr. Imran Khan, Dean Paramedical Dr. Anirban Patra, Dean Naturopathy Dr. Narendra, Programme Coordinator Midat Aslam, Dr. Richa Pundir, Dr. Pratibha Juyal, Dr. Sarika Mittal, Dr. Pushpa Dhyani, NSS Coordinator Pradeep Mahara, along with a large number of faculty members and students, were present.
