The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a highly competitive exam that allows students to pursue a career in medicine and dentistry in India. Aspiring medical students often have questions about the NEET eligibility criteria, especially regarding the importance of 12th marks.
For the year 2024, the NEET eligibility criteria remains the same as previous years. To be eligible for NEET, candidates must have completed their 12th standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as their core subjects. However, the minimum marks required in the 12th standard vary depending on the category the candidate belongs to.
For general category candidates, a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology is required. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum aggregate required is 40%. Additionally, candidates must also pass in each of these subjects individually.
It is important to note that the NEET eligibility criteria is subject to change, and candidates are advised to keep themselves updated with the official notifications released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exam.
