CBSE Board Exams 2027: LOC Correction Window for Classes X and XII—Guidelines and Key Checks

Posted on November 3, 2026 By neet bulletin No Comments on CBSE Board Exams 2027: LOC Correction Window for Classes X and XII—Guidelines and Key Checks

CBSE The List of Candidates (LOC) is the official record that a school submits to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for students who are expected to appear in the Class X or Class XII board examinations. It contains candidate information used by the Board to process examination-related records and arrangements. Because the LOC is submitted by the school, it is important that details are checked carefully before and after submission. An error in a candidate’s recorded information may require correction through the process and within the period specified by CBSE.

A LOC correction window is a time-limited opportunity for schools to review submitted entries and amend eligible errors, subject to the Board’s current rules. It does not mean that every detail can be changed, or that all requests will automatically be accepted. CBSE may specify which fields can be corrected, what supporting documents are required, and whether a particular change is permitted for the relevant examination cycle. Schools should follow the current instructions closely, verify details against appropriate records, and complete any permitted correction before the announced deadline. Requests made outside the window, or for fields not covered by the rules, may not be processed.

Students and parents who notice a possible mistake should contact the school promptly and provide the information or documentation the school requests. They should not assume they can edit the LOC directly through a personal account or submit a change independently to CBSE; the school is responsible for handling the submitted candidate record under the Board’s procedure. For the 2027 examinations, the opening and closing dates, eligible fields, required documents, and applicable examination year must be confirmed from the latest CBSE circular or official notice. These details can change from one cycle to another, so earlier guidance should not be treated as current. Prompt communication gives the school time to check the entry and act, if the requested correction is permitted.

A careful review of the List of Candidates (LOC) should begin with original records, not just the correction request. School staff should compare every entry in the CBSE system with relevant documents, such as the student’s birth certificate, school admission records, and other official records. They should also check the details against the information previously reviewed and approved by the student and parent or guardian. This helps identify both the reported error and any separate discrepancy that may have been overlooked.

Check the student’s full name, spelling, order of names, and date of birth. Verify the names of parents or guardians, including spelling and any initials, along with the student’s gender and other personal particulars displayed in the system. Review academic details carefully, including the class, school information, subject choices, and the corresponding subject codes. A subject name may appear correct while its code is wrong, so both should be checked against the student’s approved selection and applicable school records. Any additional particulars shown on the LOC should also be confirmed rather than assumed to be accurate.

Where a student is associated with both Class X and Class XII records, schools should review each relevant record separately and ensure that a correction in one does not leave inconsistent details in the other. Students and families should provide supporting documents to the school through its prescribed process; they should not rely on an informal request alone. The school should verify that the evidence supports the requested change, follow the current CBSE correction-window procedure, and confirm to the student or parent that the request has been submitted. Families should retain copies of the request and supporting documents, and check the updated record when the school makes it available. Reviewing the entire LOC, field by field, reduces the risk of omissions and helps ensure that the final details reflect verified information.

Schools should access the correction facility only through the official CBSE system, using the authorized credentials assigned to their institution. Before opening a correction request, designated staff should review the current CBSE circular and confirm that the relevant field is eligible for amendment. The portal should be used solely for corrections permitted under the stated rules; it is not an opportunity to revise information outside the allowed scope. Schools should enter changes carefully, compare each entry with source records, and check spelling, dates, category details, and other affected fields before saving or submitting the request to avoid preventable errors later.

Documentary evidence may be required, depending on the type of correction and the applicable CBSE policy. Schools should consult the circular and instructions displayed in the official portal to determine which documents are needed, whether files must be uploaded, and whether originals or copies must be retained for possible review. Requirements can differ, so staff should not assume that a document is unnecessary or that one standard set of proof applies to every request. They should follow the specified file format, naming, and submission directions, where provided, and keep records of supporting documents and any acknowledgement generated by the system. If verification or a fee is required, schools should complete it through the prescribed process and within the stated timeline.

The school remains responsible for the accuracy of the information it enters and for submitting corrections on time. A second staff review before final submission can help identify mismatches between the portal, school records, and supporting evidence. Students and families should also review the details shared with them and respond promptly if the school requests clarification or documentation. However, schools should protect account access: login credentials must not be shared with students, families, or unauthorized third parties. Avoid unofficial agents, payment requests, and links claiming to provide faster correction services. Use CBSE’s official communication channels to resolve uncertainties, and retain relevant correspondence so that the school can track the request and demonstrate compliance with the published instructions.

For CBSE Board Exams 2027, schools, students, and parents should follow the dates, eligibility conditions, and submission steps stated in the official CBSE notice for the LOC correction window. Do not rely on dates circulated in older notices, unofficial posts, or messages, since procedures and deadlines may change from one examination cycle to another. Confirm the applicable instructions with the school and check the official CBSE website where the notice is published. Submit any required correction well before the stated closing time, allowing the school sufficient time to review details and resolve portal or documentation issues. A request started but not successfully submitted before the deadline may not be considered.

Before sending a correction, carefully compare the LOC entry with the student’s supporting records. Common errors include missing the correction window, requesting a change without adequate evidence, selecting the wrong subject code, and overlooking spelling mistakes or incorrect dates of birth. Review every field rather than checking only the item being changed; names, subject selections, and other personal details should match the relevant documents. Keep a copy of the submitted request and retain its acknowledgement, reference number, or other available proof. These records can help the school track the request if a query arises. Entering a change on the portal does not, by itself, mean that CBSE has approved it.

After submission, ask the school to confirm the request’s final status and whether any additional action or evidence is required. Once the correction is processed, compare the updated record with the supporting documents and report any remaining discrepancy promptly. If the portal rejects a request, or an error is still present after the correction window closes, the school should consult CBSE’s official guidance without delay and advise the student on the appropriate next step. Do not assume that a late correction will be accepted or that an earlier submission guarantees approval. Timely follow-up, accurate documentation, and confirmation of the final record are essential safeguards for students appearing in the Class X or Class XII examinations.
