Nanded University Waives Winter 2026 Exam Fees for Drought-Affected Students
Nanded: Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMUN) has announced an examination fee waiver for eligible students from drought-affected talukas of Maharashtra. The relief will apply to students appearing for the Winter 2026 examinations, scheduled to be conducted in November and December.
The decision is aimed at supporting students and families facing financial difficulties due to the ongoing drought situation in the state.
Who Is Eligible for the SRTMUN Exam Fee Waiver?
The examination fee waiver will be available to eligible regular students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma programmes.
Students pursuing both professional and non-professional courses can benefit from the initiative, provided they meet the eligibility conditions.
The facility will cover eligible students studying at:
- Colleges affiliated with SRTMUN
- University campuses
- University sub-centres
Students must establish that they are residents of a drought-affected taluka to claim the benefit.
Documents Required for Fee Waiver
Students seeking the examination fee exemption will have to submit the required documents through their respective colleges.
The eligibility requirements include:
- Proof of residence in a drought-affected taluka
- Family income certificate
- Annual family income of not more than Rs 8 lakh
- Prescribed undertaking from the student
The undertaking must confirm that the student has not already received examination fee reimbursement under any other government educational concession.
How Will the University Verify Applications?
The university will conduct the initial scrutiny and verification of documents at the college level.
Only students who satisfy all eligibility conditions after verification will receive the examination fee waiver.
The Board of Examinations and Evaluation has advised eligible students to contact their respective colleges and submit the required documents within the prescribed process.
Why Has SRTMUN Announced the Fee Waiver?
The decision follows discussions on the drought situation in Maharashtra. An online meeting held on October 1, chaired by the state Higher and Technical Education Minister, reviewed the situation and discussed measures to provide relief to affected students.
Reports indicate that 265 out of 358 talukas in Maharashtra have been declared drought-affected.
The university’s decision is intended to ensure that students who meet the eligibility criteria are not prevented from appearing for their examinations because of financial difficulties caused by the drought.
