Students Also Demonstrate Social Responsibility at Cancer Awareness Camp Organized by Doon Medical College
Dehradun, October 30, 2025
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, Dehradun organized an inspiring Walkathon under the theme “Wear Pink, Walk for Hope” to raise awareness about breast cancer. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of early detection, highlight preventive healthcare, and foster a sense of compassion and responsibility within society.

In the same sequence, the university is observing “Vigilance Awareness Week 2025” from October 27 to November 2, with the theme — “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility.”
The event was flagged off by Professor Dr. Himanshu Aeran, Vice-Chancellor of the University, who led students from Nursing, BPT, Yogic Science, and Pharmacy departments on a 2.5-kilometer awareness walk. During the rally, which extended up to village Kotra Santur, students raised awareness among the public through slogans like “Early Detection is Protection” and “Check Yourself, Respect Yourself.”
The participation of village head Mr. Vikas Joshi further strengthened the spirit of community involvement in the campaign. Students also interacted with local women, educating them about the symptoms, prevention, and screening methods for breast cancer. This transformed the event from a simple walkathon into a “people’s movement for saving lives.”

On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Himanshu Aeran said —
“The fight against cancer is not only medical but also about our lifestyle. By adopting a vegan and compassionate way of living, we can keep ourselves healthy while expressing empathy towards the planet and all living beings. This is true humanity — a life that contributes to the welfare of others.”
He further added that Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University would continue to play a leading role in such health and social welfare initiatives.
“Our university strives to instill in students not only academic excellence but also a deep sense of social responsibility. This spirit paves the way for a stronger, more sensitive, and compassionate India.”
In continuation of these efforts, 25 students from the university also actively participated in the Cancer Awareness Camp organized by the Amar Ujala Foundation at Doon Medical College, Dehrakhas, Dehradun, on October 30. The objective of the camp was to educate people about cancer prevention, early detection, and life-saving awareness practices.

Expressing gratitude to Doon Medical College and Amar Ujala Foundation, Prof. Dr. Aeran said —
“We sincerely thank Doon Medical College for organizing this important initiative. Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University will continue to participate in such awareness campaigns to help build a healthier and safer society.”
Both the Breast Cancer Awareness Walkathon and the Cancer Awareness Camp demonstrated that the true purpose of education is not only to impart knowledge but also to nurture compassionate and responsible citizens. Through these initiatives, Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University has conveyed a powerful message —
“Compassion, awareness, and timely screening are the real shields of life.”
