NEET, which stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, is a highly competitive medical entrance exam in India. Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET is the gateway for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical and dental courses in government and private colleges across the country.

One of the frequently asked questions by NEET aspirants is regarding the number of questions in the exam. NEET consists of a total of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that are divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

The distribution of questions in NEET is as follows:

  • Physics: 45 questions
  • Chemistry: 45 questions
  • Biology: 90 questions (Botany: 45 questions and Zoology: 45 questions)

Each correct answer in NEET carries 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. Therefore, the maximum marks that can be scored in NEET is 720 (180 questions x 4 marks).

It is important for NEET aspirants to have a thorough understanding of the syllabus and exam pattern to effectively prepare for the exam. Practicing previous years’ question papers and taking mock tests can also help in familiarizing oneself with the exam format and improving time management skills.
