Prof. Nitika Kaushal, Professor and Dean Student Welfare at Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University, and Dr. Prashant Kumar Bhatnagar of Gautam Buddha Medical College and Dr. KKBM Subharti Hospital, Jhajra, Dehradun, were honoured for their outstanding contributions during the Himalayan Healthcare Innovation Summit 2026.

Prof. Nitika Kaushal was conferred with the “Women in Healthcare” award, while Dr. Prashant Kumar Bhatnagar was honoured in the category of “Excellence in Medical Education & Institutional Innovation.” Both academicians received this prestigious recognition for their remarkable contributions to healthcare services, advancement of medical education, and spreading awareness in society.

The event was also attended by several distinguished dignitaries including Raj Shekhar Joshi (Vice Chairman, SETU Aayog), Dr. Sunita Tamta (Director General, Health Services, Uttarakhand), and Dr. Geeta Khanna (Chairperson, SCPCR).
Addressing the gathering, Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh emphasized the need to strengthen preventive and community-based healthcare systems in the Himalayan region. He appreciated schemes like Ayushman Bharat for improving healthcare access in rural areas and stressed the importance of focusing on “healing” before “treatment,” promoting AI, telemedicine, and strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure, along with ensuring accountability in PPP models.
Prof. Nitika Kaushal has made significant contributions in the field of medical education by fostering holistic student development, encouraging modern teaching methodologies, and strengthening academic quality. Meanwhile, Dr. Prashant Kumar Bhatnagar has established a distinct identity through his active role in medical education, institutional innovation, and public health awareness initiatives.
During the summit, experts from Himalayan and northeastern states engaged in extensive discussions on key issues such as public health, women’s health, mental health, digital health, and PPP models. With participation from over 150 delegates and more than 40 experts, the event proved to be an impactful platform for promoting innovation, collaboration, and awareness in the healthcare sector.
