Lucknow, August 30 : Students of Classes 1 and 2 left the audience and parents spellbound with an exemplary display of their sporting talent on the second and final day of the two-day inter-school Sports meet, ‘Funathon’, organized by City Montessori School, Rajendra Nagar Campus I. The second day of ‘Funathon’ was inaugurated today by well-known Badminton player and former umpire of Asian Badminton Confederation, Mrs Monika Bhonwal by unfurling the sports flag. On this occasion, Mrs Bhonwal said that honesty, discipline, encouragement and opportunity are absolutely necessary in sports. Such events provide opportunities of overall development to the students.
The second day of ‘Funathon’ saw a tough competition between the participating students in various sporting events like ‘Bouncy Ball, ‘Glamland’, ‘Fast & Furious’ and ‘Knots and Crosses’, All the events were organized in both girls and boys category. In the ‘Bouncy Ball’ event, while on one hand, students participated in a race carrying a ball, on the other hand, they wore gowns and ran the race. In the ‘Fast and Furious’ event, the participants achieved their goal by overcoming various obstacles, while in the ‘Knots and Crosses’, students showcased intelligence and prudence apart from sports talent. Parents, who were present in large numbers, applauded the performance of the students. Several eminent personalities also registered their presence on the occasion. The winning students were presented with certificates, medals and shields.
On this occasion, CMS Founder, Dr Jagdish Gandhi said that playground is a place where various qualities are inculcated in students and their character is formed. This future generation will one day bring about world unity and world peace. Senior Principal of Rajendra Nagar Campus I, Mrs Jaishree Krishnan, while delivering the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event, said that physical development is extremely important for the intellectual development of the students. She expressed confidence that this event has been successful in increasing the spirit of cooperation and self-confidence among the students. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the parents for encouraging the students and participating in the activities of the school.
