Over 16 lakh candidates have registered this year for the neet 2021. The rise in the candidates’ registrations has given rise to a very difficult situation for the government that is managing a national level examination in the current pandemic situation and following all the government protocols. CHALLENGES TO BE FACED BY THE GOVERNMENT:
RECORD REGISTRATION FOR NEET-UG 2021: NEET UG examination is being conducted by the national testing agency in collaboration with the education ministry. The department is totally under the control of the central government and such a record-breaking candidate registration in a national level examination has given rise to new hardships and challenges. Keeping the present pandemic scenario in mind it has become a major demand to follow all the protocols while conducting the examination. If not followed properly this examination can be a disaster at countries level giving rise to multiple covid cases and other healthcare problems. This demands major investment in the field of healthcare for arranging proper sanitation facilities, maintaining proper decorum in Mask wearing, and implementation of gloves to all the candidates. Also, there has been a continuous demand to postpone the NEET-UG examination on social media especially Twitter. The students are seeking postponement for the exams because it is clashing its way with other competitive and board exams. There have been multiple critics who came forward and supported students and demanded the central government to please review the decision of conducting the NEET UG examinations. They also claimed and said that postponement of the exam by a few weeks cannot delete the academic sessions. As a result, the government must take a look at the situation of the student and make favorable decisions.
It has been a surprise to see record registrations for the NEET UG examination in the year 2021 as in the past few years there has been slightly above 15 lakh students who registered for the examination. But in the current year, there has been a record-breaking 16.96 lakh registrations. In the year 2020 due to the covid-19 outbreak, many students left their examinations and didn’t even register. As an outcome, these students have now registered for the upcoming NEET-UG examination and ultimately the number of registration has seen a hike of almost 1 lakh candidates. This now presents a new challenge of maintaining all the rules to be followed to prevent the outbreak of the third wave of covid-19 while conducting such a high-level National examination.
