The six-day University Cultural and Sports Week – Subharti Mahotsav 2026 commenced on Monday with great enthusiasm, vibrant energy, and a strong sense of national spirit at the sprawling campus of Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University. The formal inauguration took place at 11:00 AM at the University Playground in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Himanshu Aeran.


The ceremony began with the traditional ribbon-cutting by the Vice-Chancellor, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The event was attended by Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Desh Deepak, Director of Lokpriy Hospital Dr. Jeevan Asha, Director General Major G.K. Thapliyal, Administrative Officer Ravindra Pratap Yadav, Director Projects Lokesh Tyagi, Registrar Khalid Hasan, Dean Academics Dr. Manmohan Gupta, and Dr. Raman Kimothi from the Department of Culture. The atmosphere turned celebratory as colorful balloons were released into the sky and fireworks marked the official opening of the festival.


The program was effectively anchored by Ms. Midhat Aslam and Mr. Pradeep Mahara, who ensured smooth and energetic proceedings.
Addressing the gathering, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Organizing Chairman Dr. Desh Deepak described Subharti Mahotsav as more than a cultural event, calling it a platform that nurtures student talent and channels youthful energy toward nation-building. He emphasized that such initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to holistic education.
In his keynote address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Himanshu Aeran highlighted that the vision and nationalist ideals of the Founder Chairman, Dr. Atul Krishna, serve as the guiding inspiration behind such grand events. He stated that Subharti is not merely an educational institution but a center that fosters patriotic values, discipline, and character-building alongside academic excellence.
Director General Major G.K. Thapliyal noted that events of this scale cultivate leadership skills, teamwork, and discipline among students. He congratulated the organizing committee for a well-coordinated and impressive beginning.
Organizing Secretary Neetika Kaushal presented an overview of the six-day schedule, outlining a diverse lineup of literary, sports, artistic, and cultural activities from February 16 to 21.


On the opening day, following the inauguration at 11:00 AM, a Treasure Hunt was conducted across the campus at 11:30 AM, while a Quiz Competition took place at 12:00 noon in the Multi-Purpose Hall. Simultaneously, Volleyball matches commenced at the University Playground, followed by an exciting Tug of War at 12:30 PM. A friendly match between the teams led by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Aeran and Director General Major Thapliyal became a major attraction, energizing students and spectators alike. Table Tennis competitions were also held at the Indoor Sports Arena.
At the College of Fine Arts, Face Painting began at 11:30 AM, followed by Indian Folk Art activities at 2:00 PM, adding vibrant artistic hues to the celebrations.
The upcoming days promise a rich array of events. Tuesday will feature Debate semi-finals and finals, Slogan Writing, Extempore, and a Mini Marathon. Wednesday will host a Mock Parliament and Kavi Sammelan at the lokpriy Auditorium. Thursday will showcase ‘Sanatan Sangam’ along with activities for freshers and outgoing batches. Friday’s highlights include Fashion Show, Battle of Bands, Mono Acting, Stand-up Comedy, and Solo and Group Singing and Dance performances. The festival will conclude on Saturday with an Award Function and Gala Evening.
The resonating patriotic songs, disciplined participation, and enthusiastic involvement of students in colorful attire reflected the university’s cultural vibrancy and nationalist ethos.
The grand inauguration of Subharti Mahotsav 2026 stands as a powerful testament to the university’s academic excellence, cultural dignity, and commitment to nation-oriented values.
