Reason behind filing petitions.
Aspirants are requesting NTA and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan to postpone the NEET 2021 exam as several state, national-level exams and state boards exams are scheduled to be conducted around NEET 2021. As a result, medical aspirants are expressing their concerns on the clash of the exam dates around september. Postponing the date as requested by NEET aspirants is to avoid this clash and have time to prepare for NEET-UG 2021, as said by Akash Sharma, the petitioner. Over 1,400 people have signed a petition on change.org for postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2021.
The major reason why NEET 2021 might get postponed is the third wave of COVID-19 stated by medical experts. Class 12 board exams were earlier cancelled due to a surge in the second wave of COVID-19 cases. After the cancellation of the Board exams, aspirants were expecting a delay or postponement in the NEET entrance exam. Students also took to Twitter and various social medical platforms requesting PM Modi to postpone the NEET UG exam with a campaign #postponeNEET.
The second reason for the postponement of the test is that many state medical exams are scheduled to be held around.NEET. The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct the CBSE Class 12 improvement and compartment exam from August 25 to September 15 and the mathematics exam is scheduled for September 13, which is a day after the NEET exam. Considering this, candidates on social media are expressing their concern and demanding to reschedule the test.
