NEET Bulletin (Bureau – Srinagar ) 16 August 2020: Do not be surprised, yes many students from Kashmir go to Pakistan for Higher Studies in courses Medical, Engineering, IT streams. Presently there are approximately 700 students studying in Pakistan. It should be noted that government of Pakistan has reserved seats for kashmiri students and special scholarship is available for the students whose parents are killed or maimed.
Now MCI released a notice i.e “Any medical institution in Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh (PoJKL) requires permission/recognition under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Such permission has not been granted to any medical college in PoJKL.”

The issue of students studying in PoK was flagged in 2017, when MCI refused to allow the first batch of Kashmiri students from the newly established medical colleges in PoK to appear for the MCI Screening Test (Indian medical certification test.)
Meanwhile the government of Pakistan for face saving transferred all Kashmiri students from POK to pakistan.
