Dehradun: On January 23, Ras Bihari Bose Subharti University observed the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose as Parakram Diwas with deep patriotic fervour, discipline, and ideological dignity. The entire campus resonated with a spirit of nationalism, making the observance not merely a commemorative event but a living expression of the university’s nationalist ethos.


Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Himanshu Aeran highlighted key milestones from Netaji’s life. He noted that by renouncing the prestigious Indian Civil Service, Subhas Chandra Bose demonstrated that service to the nation stands above all personal achievements. The formation of the Azad Hind Fauj, his efforts to amplify India’s voice for freedom on international platforms, and his inspiration to youth toward sacrifice and struggle continue to guide students even today.


Prof. Dr. Aeran added that the practice of greeting one another with “Jai Hind” by every student, teacher, and staff member at Subharti University is a daily exercise of this very nationalist spirit.
In his formal address, Director General G. K. Thapliyal emphasized Netaji’s discipline, organizational ability, and strategic vision as ideals for the contemporary academic environment. He acquainted the audience with significant achievements from Subhas Chandra Bose’s life and underscored their relevance today.


The programme was graced by the dignified presence of Dean Academics Dr. Manmohan Gupta; Principal, School of Nursing, Dr. Deepti Sarote; Secretary, Department of Culture, Vinay Semwal; Ms. Neetika Kaushal; Pankaj Joshi; along with all Heads of Departments, faculty members, and staff. Their participation infused the event with enthusiasm and collective engagement among teachers and students alike.
During the programme, other faculty members and students also shared their thoughts, reflecting on the contemporary relevance of Netaji’s ideals. On this occasion, not only Subhas Chandra Bose but also Paramhansa Yogananda, Swami Vivekananda, and Ras Bihari Bose were respectfully remembered as great national thinkers and freedom fighters.


A quiz competition on the theme of nationalism was organized for students, with participation from 11 teams.
• Students of the Department of Naturopathy secured First Place and won the Running Shield.
• The School of Hotel Management achieved Second Place.
• The School of Nursing secured Third Place.
All winning teams were awarded medals, while certificates of appreciation were presented to all participants.
The Chief Coordinator of the programme, Dr. Rajesh Tiwari, in his brief address, stated that such observances of Parakram Diwas strengthen national consciousness, positive competition, and collective spirit among students.


It was also noteworthy that each department of Subharti University is associated with the name of a great patriot, continuously connecting students with the ideals of national service. This is why the university’s academic environment appears deeply infused with patriotism.
The programme was conducted in a disciplined and impactful manner by Vanshika and Lufina. It concluded with a collective rendition of “Jai Hind,” filling the entire campus with a profound sense of national pride.
Overall, the celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti as Parakram Diwas stood as a powerful testament to Subharti University’s unwavering patriotic values—where education, character, and the nation are shaped together.
