On Monday, a delegation from FORDA (Federation of Resident Doctors) met with Mansukh Mandaviya, Health Minister, to discuss NEET PG counseling 2021. Resident doctors called for a nationwide protest over the delaying of the counseling process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test PG2021. FORDA released an official statement after the meeting stating that the health minister had taken note of the residents’ grievances and that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will have the case brought up before the Supreme Court.
Will Expedite NEET PG Counselling Case: The Health Minister also stated that the MOHFW would try to obtain the NEET PG2021 counseling case and the case pertaining to the reservation policy declined to speed up the process. However, the delegation wrote that the minister has not yet made an official statement as the matter is “sub judice”. He asked them to stop the agitation.
According to the delegation, it will hold a virtual meeting of State Resident Doctors Associations in order to determine the “future course” of action. In a December 4 letter to the minister, the delegation stated that the RDA had suspended OPD services on November 27th and routine services on December 3.
Conclusion: The delegation stated that Indian healthcare institutions are short of an “adequate workforce” of resident doctors. There is no admission for the current academic year. It stated that the future COVID-19 pandemic threat is imminent and the situation would be catastrophic for the country’s healthcare sector, as well as the impact it has on its population.
