What is NBE?

The National Board of Examinations (NBE) in medical education is an independent body that regulates under the Health minister and Family welfare minister. It was established in the year 1975 in the city of Delhi. It was established to standardize postgraduate medical education in India. 

NEET PG dates:

The registration for NEET PG 2021 had already been closed in December 2020 as the exam was previously scheduled to be taken on January 2021. But due to the sudden hike in the cases of the Covid-19 pandemic, the exam was postponed to May. But considering the danger, the exam was first postponed from May to August and from August, the exam is now scheduled to be held on the 11th of September 2021. 

Reservation for EWS and OBC:

The central government of India recently bought reservations in favor of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). The OBC were given a reservation of 27% in the NEET and a 10% reservation of seats for the EWS. With this announcement, the OBC and EWS knocked on the doors of the authorities to re-open the registration window so that they can register themselves as eligible for the OBC and EWS reservations.

NBE to the appeal of reopening of registration window:

The National Board of Examination (NBE) issued in its latest notice that the registration window would reopen in August on 16, 3 p.m. onwards. The registration window would be open till the 20th of August at 11:55 p.m( Indian Standard Time). 

Why re-opening of registration?

The registration is re-opened so that the candidates who are eligible for the reservation can apply themselves as eligible in the application and get their seats reserved like the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC’s and STs). The other candidates can also correct their images until the last date i.e. 20th August 2021. The notice also states that the NMC has extended the cut-off date for the completion of the candidate’s internship to the 30th of September so that they can stand eligible for NEET-PG 2021. The candidates who will be completing their internships during the duration, of 21st July 2021 – 30th of September 2021 can also apply for the NEET PG 2021 after the re-opening of the application forms.

What won’t the re-opening allow to change?

The application form after re-opening won’t allow the candidates to change any other information such as name, age, or any other general information. 

Will NEET PG registration as well as exams further postpone?

The registration would be open only until the 20th of August till 11:55 p.m. No further re-opening of the application form will be done, NBE said. Also, though the students are appealing for the examination to be further postponed to October, the authorities have clearly said that they won’t be postponing the exam any further and the exam will be held on the due date.

Summary :

The NBE has issued a notice that the registration for the NEET PG candidates would re-open on 16th August 2021 and it would allow the candidates to change their eligibility criteria according to the notice issued by the central government in regard to the reservations for the OBCs and EWS. the registration would be open till the 20th of August 2021 11:55 p.m.
