Supreme Court dismisses Plea to postpone the NEET and JEE Main 2020 exam

NEET Bulletin (New Delhi, Desk): Supreme Court has rejected the petition seeking adjournment of Medical Entrance Examination NEET and Engineering Entrance Examination JEE Main. Both exams will be held according to their respective schedules in September. A bench headed by Justice Arun Kumar Mishra said that everything in the country cannot be stopped due to corona.

” The court said that it has taken the pleas of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta on record that JEE and NEET examinations will be conducted with sufficient precautions.

The petition sought to postpone the proposed JEE Main and NEET UG examinations in September due to increasing cases of Covid-19 infection. The case was heard by a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra. The JEE exam will be held from September 1 to September 6, while the NEET exam will be held on September 13.

11 students from 11 states had filed a petition in the Supreme Court with a request to postpone the JEE Main and NEET UG examinations in view of the number of fast growing Covid-19 epidemic cases in the country. The petition requested the cancellation of the July 3 notice of the National Testing Agency (NTA), referring to the corona virus epidemic. Through these notices, NTA has decided to conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, April, 2020 and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in September. The petition requested to instruct the authorities to conduct these examinations only after normalcy is restored.
