APAAR ID is not mandatory to register for NEET 2025, NTA has clarified in an official notification dated January 24, 2025. Even though the use of APAAR ID is implemented by NTA for NEET UG 2025 this year onwards, and candidates are encouraged to integrate it with their Aadhaar details, it is not made mandatory, as was suggested in the notification dated January 14, 2025.
NTA has stated, “It is clarified that APAAR ID is not mandatory for NEET UG 2025 registrations. Aspirants can continue to register for the exam using other available means details of which shall be available in the information bulletin soon.”
What is APAAR ID and Why Is It Important?

Apart from creating a comprehensive academic record, the APAAR ID also enables a regular academic monitoring of students commencing from Class 1. This ensures seamless academic tracking throughout their educational journey. Based on the data, teachers or educators can identify a student’s weak subjects and enable improvements.
