New Delhi, May 27 (PTI) The number of candidates who have registered this year for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges has crossed 18 lakh. The number here is about 2.5 lakh more than last year. As per official figures, out of 18.72 lakh candidates who have registered for NEET this year, more than 10.64 lakh are girls, while 8.07 lakh are boys. As per official figures, out of 18.72 lakh candidates who have registered for NEET this year, more than 10.64 lakh are girls, while 8.07 lakh are boys.
The national-level NEET exam, scheduled for July 17, will be conducted in 13 languages.
771 foreigners, 910 NRIs, and 647 OCI cardholders are among those who have registered this year. Most of the students have chosen English as the medium of examination. After this, the students have chosen Hindi and then Tamil as the medium of examination.
Last year, the NEET graduation exam was held on September 12 and more than 95 percent of the registered candidates appeared in it. 16.14 lakh candidates appeared in the previous exam. It was organized at 3,858 centers. About 8.70 lakh students had passed in it.
