As per the scheme proposed by the Medical Council of India scrapping medical diploma courses, government medical colleges can no longer offer a PG diploma in medicine. Thus, Maharashtra medical colleges are opting to convert the diploma courses to MS and MD courses, reported NEET Bulletin. The union ministry of health issued a public notification which offered government medical colleges the last chance to avail the MCI scheme to convert diploma courses into degree courses after the council’s decision to scrap its recognised diploma courses in medical colleges.
