Lucknow, September 10 : International Literacy Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor in the campuses of City Montessori School. Through various educational-cultural programs presented on this occasion, students were not only made aware of the importance of literacy, but were also motivated to create awareness of literacy in their homes and neighborhood. While congratulating the students, teachers and parents on ‘International Literacy Day,’ CMS Founder and eminent educationist Dr. Jagdish Gandhi said that this type of celebrations are organized enthusiastically at CMS to make students aware of various topics of contemporary and social importance and to enhance the participation of the younger generation in social upliftment. He said that CMS makes every effort to make its students aware of their responsibilities towards the society and so that they contribute constructively to the development of the society.
At CMS Rajendra Nagar Campus II, the four dimensions of literacy –Speaking, Reading, Writing and Numeracy, were specially highlighted. In addition, a ‘Digital Literacy Workshop’ was announced as a community service, through which parents will be able to get information about the academic progress of their wards. At CMS Aliganj Campus II on the other hand, emphasis was laid on promoting the use of technology in education and the ‘Vision-2025’ was discussed in detail. Through these celebrations the students conveyed the message that every person in the society has the right to be literate and educated and that no one should be deprived of education. Similar celebrations were also held at CMS RDSO, Station Road and Rajajipuram Campus II to mark the UN International Literacy Day.
