New Delhi: In the matter of EWS quota in NEET-PG, the Center has again requested the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing. The central government said that the Doctors are rightly concerned about this matter. The Supreme Court is set to hear the matter on Wednesday. CJI NV Ramana said that he will consider setting up a three-judge bench on Wednesday. He said that a three-judge bench has to be constituted in this matter.Let us see whether a bench can be constituted on Wednesday.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that a bench should be constituted to hear the matter. In this case, interim orders of the court are needed to start counseling. Earlier on Monday, Justice DY Chandrachud had said that he would try to expedite the hearing of the matter after talking to the CJI.
NEET PG case: Government will not change EWS parameters this year, income limit will be only 8 lakhs
Justice Chandrachud said that the matter has to be heard by a three-judge bench which is in different benches. In such a situation, a special bench has to be constituted. Till then, the Center should inform the parties to the case so that they can file a reply.
The criteria for EWS can be changed from the next session
Actually, the Center will not change the criteria for income up to Rs 8 lakh in EWS quota for the current session. This has been told by filing an affidavit in the Supreme Court. The Center has sought permission to conduct counseling for admissions. Also said that this year he wants to admit only candidates with income up to Rs 8 lakh under EWS. Because changing the parameters in the middle of the way will increase the complexity. Approval has been sought based on the recommendations of the Expert Committee. The Center said that the criteria for EWS can be changed from the next session.
