Lucknow, July 8 : Dr Priyanka Tripathi, an alumna of CMS Mahanagar Campus and a gynaecologist in the Indian Army performed a complex surgery recently to save the life of a mother and her infant at the Military Hospital in Arunachal Pradesh’s Dahung. The patient was referred to a bigger centre in Itanagar as the mother had an elevated blood pressure and the baby was too big but the patient could not travel. Dr Priyanka Tripathi decided to operate along with her team. During surgery, further complications of a ruptured uterus led to loss of a lot of blood. Undeterred, Dr Priyanka saved both the mother and her child in a 5 hour surgery, and became an applauded local hero.

Dr Priyanka Tripathi studied at City Montessori School’s Mahanagar Campus, completing class 12 in 2001. Principal of CMS Mahanagar Campus, Dr Kalpana Tripathi said, “Priyanka was a brilliant student who scored 91% in her class 12 board exams.”

In a conversation with Dr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder Manager of CMS, Dr Priyanka said, “I always wanted to be a gynaecologist. In my schooling days, I shied away from taking responsibilities, inspite of this I was made Head Girl of the school to inculcate confidence in me. Thereafter I got selected in the Army Medical Corps and commissioned in 2010.”Priyanka’s husband is also a pathologist in the Indian Army and the couple have a 6 year old daughter.
