One year internship has been made mandatory after obtaining MBBS degree for four and a half years in medical colleges. During this internship, practical training related to medical education has to be received. Now students will also have to do internships at the same college.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) is making continuous changes in medical education. Students could till now do one year internship in any other college after MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery/MBBS), but now they will not be able to do so. The internship will also have to be done at the college from which you have done MBBS.
One year internship has been made compulsory after obtaining MBBS degree for four and a half years in government medical colleges. During this internship, practical training related to medical education has to be received. NMC believes that this training should be of quality and students can get all the practical information related to the treatment before taking the degree. Therefore, internship has also been made mandatory in the same college where he has completed his studies. This rule has been implemented in the medical colleges of the state.
This became the reason for the change in the rule:
Medical education experts say that earlier there was arbitrariness regarding internships. All the students used to choose another college so that they do not have to do much work there. This was also done for the preparation of postgraduate. Another factor was that those doing internships in district hospitals were not able to get good training. It took a long time to become comfortable in another college.
MNC going to implement new law:
Principal of Government Medical College, Almora, Prof. CP Bhainsoda says that the new rule of NMC is being implemented regarding internships. By doing an internship in your own college, better training in treatment will be possible. Additional Director of Medical Education Department Prof. Ashutosh Sayana said that in the internship, one has to learn the nuances of health tests like taking blood samples, installing catheters, etc. MBBS students used to find it difficult to learn all this in other colleges. The new rule of NMC will bring more quality in medical education.
